The New York Mets announced that the team will celebrate the diversity, creativity, and culture of the “World’s Borough” at Citi Field during games against the Oakland A’s on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Dubbed “A Celebration of Queens Culture,” the occasion is meant to pay tribute to the immensely diverse community of Queens through food, music and art. The celebration is presented by the owners of the proposed Metropolitan Park development—Mets owner Steve Cohen and Hard Rock International—who seek to transform 50 acres of asphalt surrounding Citi Field into a global destination.

The Mets will provide fans with exclusive $10 tickets for each of the games. In addition to the discounted tickets, select Queens-based food vendors in the stadium will offer 15% discounts. During both days, Poprice and RyRy’s Kitchen will have a special pop-up in the Bullpen Plaza, located behind the Bullpen Gate entrance to the ballpark.

During Tuesday’s game, The Bullpen Plaza will feature numerous local community organizations. Each organization will showcase the resources they have available for residents.

Multiple musicians who are Queens natives will be performing throughout the games. Music duo and Astoria natives Nina Sky will be kicking off the event Tuesday with a performance of the national anthem.

Queens DJ SONI withanEYE will also spin music throughout Tuesday’s game. Additionally, on Wednesday, musician and Forest Hills native Juliet Ivy will sing the national anthem.

In addition to the community organization and local musicians, Tuesday’s A Celebration of Culture will also involve Queens-based artists creating on-site pieces around the ballpark that reflect the borough’s culture.
