The Ridgewood Off-Kilter Film Festival (R.O.F.F.) returns this September for its second year, bringing over 30 screenings of unconventional yet exceptional films to the heart of Ridgewood.

The film festival is set to take place at the Stone Circle Theatre, located at 59-14 70th Ave., within the Ridgewood Presbyterian Church, from Friday, Sep. 13, to Sunday, Sep. 15.

Organizers of the film festival are putting together a wide array of film submissions, including featured films, live-action shorts, animated shorts, short documentaries and music videos for this year’s selection.

Jeremy Finch, the curator behind the R.O.F.F., says he is looking forward to this year’s festival, having seen the great work of filmmakers as part of last year’s showing.

“ROFF’s mission is to bring together a dynamic community of filmmakers and film enthusiasts in celebration of weird cinema and uniquely crafted stories,” Finch said. “Year two will build on our success last year with a roster of truly cinematic oddities.”

The R.O.F.F. was one of many recipients of the 2024 Queens Art Fund, which was designed to offer project-based grants to Queens artists, collectives and small non-profit organizations.

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping artists by providing educational and financial support, distributing over $457,000 in awards and grants this year alone.

A sneak peek at one of the films selected for the festival includes ZIPWHARF, claiming to be the last comedy film ever to be made. The first-ever screening of the film, directed by Percy Manthey, will take place at the Ridgewood Film Festival.

Cinephiles and film buffs alike can purchase tickets for the Ridgewood Off-Kilter Film Festival online, with a full lineup of festival events coming on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
