A 24-year-old man narrowly escaped death on Wednesday, Aug. 7, when three trespassers entered his residence in Glendale and shot him, grazing his head and neck, police reported.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the Liberty Park section of Glendale, near 65th Street and Cooper Avenue.
According to officials, three unidentified suspects broke into the victim’s home, attempting to burglarize it. Upon discovering the resident, they shot him, grazing his neck and head, before fleeing the scene in an unmarked car.
A police spokesperson said EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition and he is expected to survive.

According to NYPD CompStat data, the 104th Precinct has seen significant increases in burglaries, misdemeanor assaults and retail thefts overall. Over the last 28 days, there were double the number of burglaries reported to police compared to the same time last year. That is 34 cases compared to 17 last July.
Shooting incidents in the 104th Precinct have remained low compared to the summer months of last year.
