Council Member Sandra Ung, in collaboration with New York Presbyterian Hospital, is offering free seasonal flu shots to adults this Sunday, Sept. 15th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free flu shot event will be held at her district office located at 136-21 Latimer Place, Suite 1D in Flushing.

Vaccines are limited, and pre-registration is recommended. Interested residents can call her office at 718-888-8747 to make an appointment. Walk-ins will be accommodated pending space and availability.

Priority will be given to recipients without health insurance. Recipients must be 18 or older and bring photo identification as proof of age. Pregnant women are not eligible for this event and are encouraged to get a flu vaccine through their doctor. The Council Member advises anyone with a fever greater than 100 degrees or a positive COVID test within five days of the event to stay home.

Ung said that the flu vaccine is integral in reducing the spread of the virus.

“Flu season can be a challenging time for our community, especially for those with underlying health conditions and older adults,”  Ung said. “Prevention is the key, and providing these vaccines can significantly reduce the spread of the flu virus and its associated health risks. We want everyone who wants to keep themselves and their loved ones safe to have access to a free flu vaccine.”
