A 63-year-old man was pulled from the East River along Powells Cove in Beechhurst on Sunday morning and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing responded to 911 calls from residents at the Cryder House gated community alongside the Throgs Neck Bridge just after 9 a.m. and found the victim floating off 166-41 Powells Cove Blvd.

The NYPD Harbor Unit was dispatched to the location and retrieved the victim, who was unconscious and unresponsive, according to an NYPD spokesman. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death, the NYPD spokesman said, adding that his identification is pending proper family notification.
