SHAREing & CAREing, a vital support organization for breast and ovarian cancer patients in Queens, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a benefit and silent auction at Russo’s on the Bay in Howard Beach.

The event, held on Thursday, Oct. 10, honored the contributions of community leaders and partners who have significantly impacted the organization’s mission.

The evening spotlighted the unwavering dedication of First Central Savings Bank (FCSB), whose Chairman of the Board, Joseph Pistilli, served as the master of ceremonies. Pistilli’s leadership highlighted the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves.

“We’re proud to be a part of this important cause,” Pistilli said. “Our mission goes beyond financial services—it’s about investing in the lives and well-being of those who need it most, and SHAREing & CAREing has been a lifeline for so many in Queens.”

Christine Walsh, Vice President of PMO and Enterprise Delivery at FISERV was among the evening’s honorees. Walsh was recognized for her dedication to cancer research and advocacy, a cause deeply personal to her as her own family has faced cancer. Through her leadership, FISERV has become an important partner of SHAREing & CAREing, providing financial and moral support to the organization’s mission.

“We are deeply moved by Christine’s dedication,” said Michael Serao, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of FCSB. “Her efforts resonate with our values of community service and philanthropy. Together, we’re making a difference in the lives of those touched by cancer.”

Nicholas Tavantzis, Vice President of FCSB, received the Community Service Award for his extensive volunteer work in local schools and youth sports programs. His contributions to promoting financial literacy and community engagement were also celebrated.

“Serving the community is not just a duty—it’s a privilege,” Tavantzis said. “We must all do our part to uplift those around us, and I’m honored to be recognized alongside such inspiring individuals.”

Andrew Latos, Senior Partner at Latos Latos & Associates, PC, was acknowledged for his philanthropy and commitment to community service. Latos’s tireless efforts have played a crucial role in advancing SHAREing & CAREing’s initiatives.

“Our strength lies in the community,” Latos said. “By working together, we can create meaningful change for those who need it most.”

The Gloria D’Amico Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Laura Jean Hawkins, President of Hawkins Consulting, Inc., for her long-standing contributions to SHAREing & CAREing’s mission.

Anna Kril, President and Co-founder of SHAREing & CAREing, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the evening’s honorees. “We are immensely grateful for the support of FCSB and inspirational leaders like Christine Walsh. Their contributions empower us to continue our mission of support, education, and advocacy for those affected by breast and ovarian cancer.”

The 30th anniversary celebration was a testament to the strength of community solidarity and the ongoing impact of SHAREing & CAREing’s work in Queens.
