Southeast Queens residents can soon access MetroCard services in the comfort of their neighborhoods. Assembly Member Stacey Pheffer Amato and Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. are partnering with the MTA to bring its MetroCard Van service to their respective districts.

The van will first visit the Lindenwood Food Emporium, located at 82-35 153rd Ave. in Lindenwood, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The following day, Wednesday, Oct. 30, the MetroCard Van will be parked outside the St. Mary Gate of Heaven Senior Center, located at 103-12 101st Ave. in Ozone Park, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Services offered at the MetroCard Van include help with reduced-fair applications, MetroCard balance transfers for full-fare and reduced-fare MetroCards, temporary replacements for damaged Reduced-Fare MetroCards, obtaining or refilling their Senior or Disability Reduced Fare MetroCard, and in-person support for any MetroCard-related issues.

The MTA Mobile Sales buses and vans do not accept credit card transactions. Residents can buy MetroCards using cash or transfer value from a Reduced-Fare MetroCard.

The local elected officials released statements sharing how crucial the MetroCard Van events are to their respective communities.

“This initiative not only helps ease the burden of commuting for our residents but also ensures that everyone has equal access to essential services. We must continue to advocate for resources that enhance mobility and connectivity, making our neighborhoods more accessible for all,” Addabbo said in a statement.

Pheffer Amato said the MetroCard Van is a vital service for the community, especially for seniors. “I want to create more access and accessibility for people to get around our City when dealing with public transportation. We need to make things easier for people, and this van is a great tool to do that,” Pheffer Amato said in a statement.
