Assembly Member Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) has announced the four winners of his annual Halloween Essay & Drawing Contest, celebrating the creativity of young students across Northeast Queens.
The grand prize winners include Olivia Chen, a 2nd grader from P.S. 184 in Whitestone, who submitted a drawing titled “Untitled”; Angie Ng, a 3rd grader from P.S. 107 in Flushing, whose illustrated short story “Stuck at a Haunted House” won in her category; Yinuo Zhang, a 4th grader from P.S. 41 in Bayside, whose drawing “Untitled” was selected; and Gloria Nam, a 5th grader from P.S. 213 in Oakland Gardens, who wrote the short story “The Night of TERROR.”
“These students each made their family and school community proud with their imaginative and well-composed entries to my office’s Halloween Essay & Drawing Contest,” said Assemblyman Braunstein. “I want to thank each and every local student who got into the spirit of Halloween and submitted entries to this year’s contest.”
In addition to a special New York State Assembly Certificate of Merit, each grand prize winner received an Amazon gift card. All contest participants were awarded a Certificate of Merit for their efforts.
Braunstein represents the 26th Assembly District, which includes the neighborhoods of Bayside, Whitestone, Flushing, and Oakland Gardens.
The Halloween Essay & Drawing Contest is part of Braunstein’s ongoing efforts to foster creativity and academic excellence among students in his district.
