Burglars hit Glendale home making off with more than a half-million in jewelry and property: NYPD

Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood are looking for two burglars who targeted a Glendale home in broad daylight on Friday, Nov. 1, before driving off in a BMW with a massive haul of stolen property, according to the NYPD.

The two unidentified men entered a residence in the vicinity of 78th Avenue and 64th Street after forcing their way through the front door at around 12:30 p.m.

Once inside, the perpetrators removed personal property and jewelry worth an estimated $500,000, police said Thursday. An NYPD spokesman could not provide any further detail on what personal property was removed from the home in addition to the stolen jewelry.

The two men sped away from the crime scene in a gray BMW southbound on Cypress Hills Street alongside New Mount Carmel Cemetery toward the Jackie Robinson Parkway. No injuries were reported during the heist.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the two suspects and their getaway car on Thursday and described one of the men as having a medium complexion with a bald head and gray beard who wore a dark Nike sweatshirt over a white T-shirt. The second man wore a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Through Nov. 3, the 104th Precinct has reported 187 burglaries so far in 2024, 16 more than the 171 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 9.4%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
