Several lucky New Yorkers win big in Powerball and Take 5 drawings this week

Several lucky New Yorkers are celebrating big wins this week, as the New York Lottery announced multiple winners, including third-prize Powerball tickets and Take 5 top-prize tickets.

The Wednesday, Dec. 4 Powerball drawing yielded three third-prize tickets, while the Dec. 5 Take 5 midday drawing produced two top-prize winners in NYC.

In Queens, Astoria Blvd Deli Grocery Inc., located at 38-02 Astoria Blvd in Astoria, and Sai Stop Deli & Grocery, located at 101-05 Lefferts Blvd in South Richmond Hill, both sold a third-prize Powerball ticket worth $50,000.

In Brooklyn, Bhakti 514 Inc., located at 514 4th Ave., also sold a third-prize Powerball ticket.

The estimated Powerball jackpot is $260 million, with a cash value of $125 million. The next drawing will be held on Saturday.

Additionally, on Thursday, Dec. 5, Ideal Food Basket at 175-35 Hillside Ave. in Jamaica and D O M Grocery Corp. at 2911 Fulton St. in Brooklyn each sold a top-prize Take 5 ticket worth $9,444.

The Powerball drawing on December 4 featured numbers drawn from a field of 1 to 69, with the red Powerball selected from a separate field of 1 to 26. Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

Take 5 numbers are drawn from a field of 1 to 39, with drawings held twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Winning tickets for both games can be claimed up to one year from the date of the drawing.
