A St. Albans woman was struck and killed by two vehicles just steps from her home near a dead-end street on Christmas night.

Police from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of 111th Avenue and 158th Street on the night of Dec. 25.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a 45-year-old woman lying on the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS rushed her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short while later. She was identified as Antonina Freycinet of 111th Avenue, police said Thursday.

Further investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad determined that the driver of an unknown vehicle traveling northbound on 111th Avenue struck the victim as she crossed 111th Avenue from north to south at 158th Street outside a marked crosswalk, knocking her down. Moments later, a 64-year-old man driving a Ford Expedition SUV struck her while she was still lying on the roadway.

The hit-and-run driver who initially struck the woman remains at large. Police have no description of the vehicle yet. The SUV driver remained at the scene and was not arrested. The investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
