A Brooklyn man was killed after losing control and crashing his SUV on the Belt Parkway near JFK Airport on the night of Monday, April 21.
Police from the 106th Precinct in South Ozone Park responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision on the westbound Belt Parkway just west of 130th Street just after 10:30 p.m.
Further investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that the 57-year-old victim was behind the wheel of a black 2019 Mazda CX5 heading toward the Van Wyck Expressway when he failed to navigate the roadway and struck a tree. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as Patrick Turenne, of Eldert Lane in the City Line section along the border of Queens and Brooklyn.
There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
