Police have arrested a 36-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow passenger during a brutal daytime attack aboard a Brooklyn shuttle bus on Sunday.
Kareem McCalla, of 102nd Street in Richmond Hill, was taken into custody on Tuesday for allegedly stabbing 41-year-old Alvin Francis, of 168th Street in Jamaica, following an argument on the J90 shuttle bus, which was operating in place of J train service near Crescent Street and Cypress Place in Cypress Hills.
McCalla has been charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police sources.
Police said the deadly incident unfolded at around 2:30 p.m. on May 11. Following a heated argument, the dispute became violent, with the suspect stabbing Francis multiple times in the abdomen.
Officers from the 75th Precinct arrived at the bloody scene, but McCalla had already fled. EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witness interviews and photos played key roles in helping detectives track down the suspect. According to an article from Eyewitness News 7, authorities said surveillance video recovered from the bus, which provided a clear image of the suspect, was instrumental in the apprehension.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said that McCalla was arraigned on Wednesday afternoon. He is currently held in custody without bail and due back in court on Friday.
