Detectives in Corona are looking for the suspect who stabbed a man to death on Saturday night.
Police said the homicide happened at about 7:42 p.m. on May 10 near the corner of 34th Avenue and 96th Street.
Officers from the 115th Precinct found the victim, a 32-year-old man, who had been stabbed multiple times in the body. Cops initially responded to the location after receiving a 911 call about an assault in progress.
EMS rushed the wounded victim to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. He was identified by the NYPD on Monday as Fabian Chimbo who lived on 97th Street near Northern Boulevard just a block away from the crime scene.
The motive for the stabbing remains unknown, police sources said Sunday.
No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement sources said they are looking for a male suspect who was last seen fleeing the location while wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and carrying a brown bookbag.

According to the most recent CompStat report, the 115th Precinct had three homicides year-to-date through May 4; the command had zero homicides at the same point in 2024. Overall crime, however, is down in the area by 18.83%.
