Two grandsons of the late Gambino mob boss John Gotti were arrested Monday for dishing out some street justice against an associate who allegedly robbed the Howard Beach home of the don’s namesake on Saturday.
Reputed Gambino associate Gino Gabrielli, 31, was arrested on Sunday, a day after he allegedly broke into the residence of 31-year-old John Gotti, at 94-19 157th Ave. in Howard Beach on the afternoon of Sunday, June 1, and stealing $3,500 in cash, a luxury wristwatch, a pair of earrings, a wallet and a jewelry box, according to the criminal complaint.
Gabrielli was arrested soon afterward by police from the 106th Precinct in South Ozone Park and arraigned in Queens Criminal Court the following day on a complaint charging him with burglary in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property. Gabrielli was released on his own recognizance.
Frankie Gotti, 27, of 85th Street in Howard Beach, saw Gabrielli at his mother’s home on 84th Street near Spring Creek Park and called his brother, and they went to the home and confronted him. Police from the 106th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a man in need of assistance at the mother’s 84th Street home and saw the Gotti brothers punching him in the face multiple times with closed fists and then kicking him repeatedly after he was down on the ground.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene and the Gotti brothers were taken into custody. They were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday on a complaint charging them with attempted assault and harassment.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Sharif Nasser-Cuellar released them without bail and ordered them to return to court on Aug. 7.
Gabrielli was indicted by the feds in 2015 for setting himself on fire while torching a Mercedes-Benz belonging to a Howard Beach businessman who had failed to pay a Gambino captain as part of an extortion scheme. The businessman’s home security system captured footage of Gabrielli pouring a substance onto the Mercedes-Benz and the vehicle subsequently bursting into flames. The footage further showed Gabrielli running away with his pant leg on fire. He was treated at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for his burns.
Federal law enforcement agents later arrested Gabrielli, who pleaded guilty in August 2016 to arson charges.
