Victoria’s Secrets: A week of togetherness

week
Dan Shaunessy with his guests and Wilmington Trust team

From neighborhood battles to beautiful family gatherings, it was a week of togetherness.

A battle brought together the Linden 11 — all of my 11 neighbors — together opposing a new home being built on our corner of Linden Lane. On Tuesday, we all went together to the Southampton Town Hall to speak out about the new building’s inappropriateness to the historic district of Quiogue.

We each had a few minutes to speak to our town’s Board of Architectural Review, and what touched me most was when one of our neighbors stated simply, “I want to say thank you because the dispute over the house brought our neighbors together, and I got to know them.”

How true that is. I’ve lived in many homes, and in most, I never knew my neighbors. My Quiogue neighbors came together with a cause thanks to a dispute with the corner house builder. I’m a big believer that from something bad, good can come. And it did.

Then the weekend came, and my family gathered together, celebrating my granddaughter Addy’s 14th birthday. Then on Sunday, we were off to our first Dan’s Taste event of the season, the Rosé Soirée.

My daughter Elizabeth, the leader of our events team, knocked the party out of the park! What a happening of bringing people joyously together for the official start of the summer season.

It was like old home week, seeing so many friends and clients. Wilmington Trust and their Long Island leader, Dan Shaunessy, who was the lead sponsor, having a VIP velvet-roped-off area with their food and drinks brought to them.

It was great to see our “Summer Preview” front cover sponsor, hotelier Corey Gluckstal, bring his Seven Beach Lane hotel and restaurant staff.

Their team served several dishes, but my favorite was their delicious gazpacho — I had triple servings. His intimate restaurant inside the hotel in Westhampton Beach has indoor and outdoor seating. It is now at the top of my dining out list to visit this summer.

The music from DJ Theo, paired with the electric violinist Sarina, had everyone dancing and singing the night away.

What a week it was!
