CLOWNING AROUND

Ringling Bros. provided the P.S. 199 after-school program with laughter.

A performance was held at the Sunnyside Community Services’ (SCS) after-school program at P.S. 199 in Queens by clowns the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s The Greatest Show on Earth®.

Over 200 children from the program were visited by Ringmaster Brian Crawford Scott and the clowns on Wednesday, March 16.

“We’re happy to welcome Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey to Sunnyside,” Judy Zangwill, executive director of SCS said.

The children were entertained by the on and off stage antics performed by the clowns during the after-school assembly, concluded as the team answered questions and posed for photographs. With an added gesture, passes to an upcoming performance of ‘Fully Charged’ were distributed to the crowd and children.

“Their generous gift will allow many members of our community to enjoy an unforgettable evening of family entertainment,” Zangwill said.

The visit celebrated the first “Queens Night” performance at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey held on Saturday, March 19.

Queens Borough President Helen Marshall indicated she was delighted that children and adults of all ages were able to attend a performance on Queens Night at the Nassau Coliseum.

“Although we regret that the Greatest Show on Earth will not be able to perform in New York City this year,” said Marshall. “On behalf of all Queens residents, I thank Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey for offering this opportunity for this special performance to anyone living in Queens.”

The SCS, located at 43-31 39th Street, has offered a wide range of programs for people of different ages.
