Christ the King raises cancer funds

Students, faculty and staff at Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village recently raised $4,300 for breast cancer research.
The proceeds will be given to The American Cancer Society, said Alice Wenz, spokesperson for the school.
The money was raised through the purchasing of pink T-Shirts. The school’s principal, Peter Mannarino, and the company supplying the school’s uniforms, Scholastic Uniforms, provided over 450 T-Shirts, which students, faculty and staff bought for $5 each, Wenz explained.
“It’s amazing how the kids came through,” Wenz said. “The school was just a sea of pink. It gave you the goose bumps.”
This was the first breast cancer fundraiser at the school, which is located at 68-02 Metropolitan Avenue and has about 1,200 students.
