Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames while responding to a two-alarm fire that gutted a South Ozone Park residence on Sunday morning, Feb. 26, it was reported. According to FDNY sources, the inferno ignited at around 6:30 a.m. at a home located on 126th Street near Rockaway Boulevard. Rushing to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 302, 308, 303, 285, 331, 275, 294, 298 and 324; Ladder companies 155, 126, 142, 173, 133 and 125; Squad Co. 270; Rescue 4; Satellite 4 and Battalions 51, 50, 39 and 54 along with the 106th Precinct and EMS units. There were no reported injuries. Firefighters used three hose lines to extinguish the blaze, an FDNY source said.
