Two goals by Monsignor Farrell within minutes of each other late in the second half were the difference, as the team from Staten Island defeated the Holy Cross Knights, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at United States Merchant Marine Academy Kings Point, to win the Catholic High School Athletic Association.
The Knights, coached by Paul Gilvary, had several golden opportunities to take the lead while the game was still scoreless and missed another when Farrell went up 1-0 with eight minutes remaining in the game.
And though Cross did finally manage to get on the scoreboard
