Kew Gardens token clerk charged with $300K scam

A Kew Gardens token booth collector charged with pocketing more than $300,000 in revenue from selling illegal MetroCards is hoping to be free on bail in time for his April wedding.

Vincent Cappuccio, a 29-year-old native of Elmhurst and a Lake Ronkonkoma resident, was arrested early Tuesday on charges that he illegally manufactured more than 9,000 MetroCards worth $327,000 over a 13-month period, authorities said.

Cappuccio was stationed for the past few months at the Union Turnpike subway stop in Kew Gardens.

He was being held behind bars after Judge Dorothy Chin-Brandt set bail at a hefty $200,000 Tuesday, citing Assistant District Attorney Yvonne Creque
