Police Blotter: Man beaten, robbed in Jamaica Estates

JAMAICA ESTATES — A 30-year-old man was beaten as he was robbed at about 10:20 p.m. last Oct. 24, at 89-12 181st St., police said.

The victim was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital with head injuries and was in serious condition, police said.

Man hurt by concrete slab thrown into train at 30th Ave.

ASTORIA — A 28-year-old man was hit in the head by a piece of concrete that flew through the window of a subway train in Queens, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

The brick was thrown by one of three youths who were standing on the W train station at 30th Avenue in Astoria, the Post said.

The victim suffered minor head injuries and was treated at Mount Sinai of Queens.

Police were investigating.

38-year-old killed in Jamaica shooting

JAMAICA — A 38-year-old man was shot several times at 143-08 Liberty Ave. Sunday at about 3 a.m., and died soon later, police said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he died, police said.

Police were investigating.

Man, 29, killed in Jackson Heights

JACKSON HEIGHTS — A 29-year-old man was killed last Thursday after he was shot in the chest, police said.

Alexinic Munoz died at Elmhurst Hospital after he was shot at 89th Street and Roosevelt Avenue at Garibaldi Restaurant at about 12:30 a.m.. police said.

Police were investigating.

Patrol saves man in Rockaway waters

ROCKAWAY — A 33-year-old man was rescued from the water four miles away from the Rockaway Inlet, police said. He sent out a distress signal Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and was saved by the Harbor Launch Patrol.

The victim was taken to Peninsula General Hospital in stable condition, police said.

3 try to rob cabby in South Jamaica

SOUTH JAMAICA — Three men tried to rob a livery cab at about 10 p.m. Oct. 24, at 148th Street and 116th Avenue, police said.

Three men hailed the Lefferts Car and Limo Co. cab at 108th Avenue and Shore Avenue and told the driver to take them to Linden Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard, police said.

When the driver arrived at 148th Street, two of the men got out of the cab while the third pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money, police said.

The NYPD said the driver pushed the gun away, the would-be robber fired one round and then fled on foot.

Police were investigating.
