Our poppy queen has been selected and her name is Lia Estrada. She is 10 years old and attends 5th Avenue Elementary School. Her brother Jonathan is going to Juliard.
Lia participated in the Kohl program “Kids Who Care,” plays softball in her town and participated in the Pioneer Girl to aid underprivileged children with donations and prayers. Hair is donated to Locks of Love to make hairpieces for children with cancer.
The grand marshal is represented by Penny Herrell, whose late father, Everett, was honored with the naming of VFW Post 885 after him. He died a few months ago.
