One contestant has praise for contest!
BY MELISSA HENDRICKS
The Queens Biggest Losers Contest is coming to a close and thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we have been able to transform the lives of some of our dedicated readers.
Wanda Radetti, a 60-year-old travel specialist, is more than grateful for the positive impact the contest has had on her life. She has lost a total of 10 lbs. and 5.6 % of her body fat.
“The Queens Courier has totally changed my life,” said Radetti. “I want to thank everyone who was involved.”
Radetti has been training for the last 12 weeks with Eduardo at Bally Total Fitness and has been working with nutritionist Nicolette Pace. For Radetti the experience has been a prize in itself. She has developed the tools and techniques she needs to continue living a healthy and happy life.
“I won the moment that I responded to that article in The Queens Courier,” Radetti added. “I don’t believe in accidents. I was meant to make that phone call. That call changed everything for me and gave me an awareness I never knew I could have.”
Before entering the contest, Radetti had fallen into a rut. At 60 years old, she felt that feeling mediocre all the time was normal.
“I had been down for a while and accepted that feeling not so good all the time was okay,’ she said. “As it turns out, it’s not okay.”
Thanks to the contest, Radetti can now easily walk up the four flights of steps to her apartment and has more energy and drive than ever before. Friends can really notice a difference in her, both physically and emotionally.
“Recently I traveled to Croatia for work and tried to remain conscious of my health and fitness even while sampling different wines and foods specific to that culture,” said Radetti. “I received lots of compliments and goodwill despite the fact that I haven’t lost all that much weight. People were able to see the change in my energy and spirit.”
Radetti plans to continue eating right, working out, and really taking care of herself, something she has struggled with for a long time.
“I am not used to caring for myself,” Radetti said. “I grew up believing that it is selfish to think of yourself but this contest has shown me that I want to look good and above all feel good. It’s about taking those extra steps to improve yourself.”
The Queens Courier will proudly announce the winner of the Queens Biggest Losers Contest in next week’s editions. We congratulate all the contestants for their hard work and thank all of our sponsors for their generosity.
