Free movies now at Queens Library

Queens Library members no longer must visit their local branch to gain access to downloadable videos. The Queens Library recently announced the debut of a new media format that joins the library’s collection of free eBooks, eMusic and eAudio books: free eVideos.
The videos are downloadable from the Queens Library website with a variety of devices such as Pocket PCs, Portable Media Centers, and devices running Windows Mobile 5.0. Once downloaded, customers may view the video on their media device no differently than you would on a television. Library card holders are able to “check out” free eVideos as they would books, without leaving the privacy of their homes.
The Library’s eVideo collection covers diverse topics, with an emphasis on travelogues, classic movies, documentaries, and movies for kids. To get started, go to the eMedia section of the Library’s website at www.queenslibrary.org/eMedia and select the eVideo option. To “check out” an item, you’ll need to log on with your Library PIN (personal identification number) which may be obtained at the Information/Checkout Desk at any Queens Library.
A high-speed Internet connection is necessary, as is a Windows-compatible PC. Once the video is downloaded, customers can “keep” it for 7 days. No check-in is necessary, so there are never any late fees.
The library plans to grow its eVideo collection significantly. Currently, the library has a robust eMedia collection totaling 675 eAudio books, 636 eBooks, 104 eMusic choices and 133 eVideos. In addition, they also offer eBooks in Chinese and Russian; eMagazines in Chinese; and animated talking picture eBooks for kids, in English and Spanish.
