Man guilty of crack house robbery, murder

A South Ozone Park man has been found guilty of robbing one man inside a basement crack house in Jamaica and then fatally shooting the man’s stepson who showed up seeking to avenge the robbery.
“The defendant has been found guilty of robbing one victim at gun point and then using his illegal handgun to kill a second victim,” said District Attorney Richard A. Brown. “His conduct took a life and shattered a family. It warrants imposition of a maximum prison sentence to punish him and protect society.”
Timmy Lee Walker, 33, of 117-36 141st Street in South Ozone Park, has been convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be sentenced on February 8, 2007. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
According to trial testimony, the incident happened at 2:40 a.m. on September 5, 2004 when Walker robbed James Hubbard, 48, at gunpoint while both men were in a basement crack den located at 131-26 140th Street in Jamaica.
Approximately an hour later, Hubbard returned to the basement with a friend and his stepson, Tony Brunson, 22. When the three men rushed into the basement, Walker shot Brunson four times, once through the heart, killing him, and shot Hubbard once in the right thigh.
Despite being wounded, Hubbard and the friend managed to subdue Walker and restrain him until police arrived.
