Officials from North Fork Bank recently presented Christ the High School in Middle Village with funding for “Italia in Festa,” an Italian music festival held at the school in December.
The event, which had been sponsored by the Federazione Italo-Americana Di Brooklyn & Queens Inc. and State Senator Serphin Maltese, had featured performances by Italian vocalist Sandro Giacobbe and Angelo Venuto and his band Voices.
Best characterized as a “romantic singer,” Giacobbe is best known for the song, “Signora Mia,” which helped launch his career in Italy and South America.
The event at Christ the King, which was held on Friday, December 29, drew more than 500 people, including a number of Christ the King students and their families and local residents.
North Fork Bank’s contribution to the event marked one of the first occasions that the company has collaborated with the Queens school.
