During a special presentation on the field at Shea Stadium on Wednesday, July 25, several of the borough's high school valedictorians were honored by The Queens Courier and the Mets. Josh Schneps (third from right), the Associate Publisher of The Queens Courier, was on hand to honor (left to right) Fareed Mohammed from John Adams High School, Morgane Giordano from Townsend Harris High School, Joanne Lumaban from St. John's Preparatory, Zoe Spanos, from the Academy of American Studies and Jaclyn Verbil from Christ the King High School. The students were given laminated copies of the story documenting their achievement in The Queens Courier, Mets hats and Courier T-shirts, in addition to taking the field before the local nine played the Pirates.
