VOICE announces dinner dance honorees

Marilyn Varadi and Chick Rudy of North Shore Towers, honorary chairpersons and founders of the Varadi Ovarian Initiative for Cancer Education (VOICE) announced the honorees for this year’s Ribbons of Hope Achievement Dinner Dance, to be held Wednesday evening, September 19 at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, Long Island.
Susan Isaacs, noted author from Sands Point, Paula Zahn, CNN News anchor, and Matthew Classi, managing member of GCP Capital Group in Great Neck, will be honored for their achievement in the arts, media, and business respectively.
Joining Varadi and Chick as honorary chairperson is Dr. David A. Fishman, Director of Gynecology and Oncology at the NYU School of Medicine and Director of the Cancer Detection and Screening Program at the NYU Clinical Cancer Institute. Tom Donovan, partner of Massey Knakal Real Estate Services and last year’s honoree, is dinner chairman.
The Varadi Ovarian Initiative for Cancer Education was founded three years about by Rudy, a real estate executive, in honor of his significant other, Dr. Marilyn Varadi, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
VOICE’s mission is to increase the public awareness of this disease, a gynecological cancer known as the “silent killer” and to encourage its early detection by being your own health advocate and insuring appropriate medical testing.
This event benefits both VOICE (to support educational programs and seminars) and the Early Ovarian Detection Program at the NYU School of Medicine, led by Fishman, renowned researcher and gynecological oncologist.
The evening will include cocktails, dinner, music by Harmony Entertainment and a fabulous silent auction. Works of art by international artists Ben Schonzeit, Peter Max and Dennis Wheeler will be featured along with jewelry and major memorabilia. A vacation at the Casa de Campo Resort, a ladies Tourneau watch, theater tickets and lunch at Le Cirque will be among the many great raffle prizes.
Among the “Friends for Life” for this event are The Queens Courier publications, Astoria Federal Savings, Merrill Lynch, the Jay Grossman Global Client Group, Tiffany & Co., Massey Knakal Real Estate Services, Jeffrey Mann, Edna Mashaal Real Estate, Rene and Philip Pilevsky, the Rudy-Varadi families, the Tulchin family and the Golden First Bank of Great Neck.
