These hardy members of the city’s Strongest have been going around Queens reminding us that starting this year; the Sanitation Department requires that leaves and lawn clippings must be in paper bags.
The next pickup for the city’s composting program will be on December 1. Lawn and leaf-sized paper bags are available for purchase in a number of locations, like this hardware store on 150th Street in Whitestone.
Plastic bags hamper the composting process, and will no longer be accepted. For information on the composting program and where to get the right bags, visit www.nyc.gov./wasteless.
