A pioneering elder care facility founded in 1970 has been granted a new lease on life.
Kittay House celebrated its rededication with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, February 7, at the University Heights facility, a 295-unit apartment building located in a five-acre garden on the Jewish Home Lifecare campus.
Over the past two years, Kittay House, located at 2550 Webb Avenue, has undergone extensive renovations to meet the needs of seniors in the 21st Century.
The renovations included improved lighting in apartment and commons areas, remodeled bathrooms with bathtubs removed for safety, kitchens with new amenities, and corridors with rails on both sides of the hall.
In addition, the building has a new fitness center to keep the residents of the home physically fit. Furthermore, the new dining room features restaurant-style service.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony allowed for many community leaders and elected officials to express their gratitude towards the home and see the renovations firsthand.
