One woman’s death turns into life-saving mission

Marilyn Kinches was a member of the Hillcrest community and a beloved friend to all who knew her until her passing this past summer.
In their grief, Hillcrest members long to keep her memory alive and have devised an innovative way to do so.
Throughout her life, Kinches sympathized with those in need. She devoted much time and effort to assist Ezer Mizion, Israel’s Health Support Organization, which helps the disabled, the elderly and victims of cancer.
Ezer Mizion’s Bone Marrow Registry acts as an insurance policy for Jews around the globe.
Many Jews diagnosed with life-threatening diseases are in need of a bone marrow transplant as their only means of survival. The success of the transplant is dependent on the genetic matching of the donor to the recipient. It is vital that the registry be enlarged.
Since its inception in 1998, 332 life saving transplants have been facilitated,.
Those who knew her, loved her and miss her have undertaken to establish The Marilyn Kinches Bone Marrow Donor Pool under the auspices of Ezer Mizion’s Bone Marrow Registry, located in Israel and the largest Jewish bone marrow registry in the world.
Donations continue to pour in as Kinches’s friends attempt to keep her memory alive in the way that she would love.
Contributions may be sent to Marilyn Kinches Bone Marrow Donor Pool, Ezer Mizion, 1281 49 Street, Brooklyn, NY 11219.
