A donation from the Walter Kaner Children’s Foundation will enable the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island to further help families in need.
Located in New Hyde Park, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a “home-away-from-home” for families whose children are seriously ill and are receiving care in the area.
The Walter Kaner Children’s Foundation was founded in 1950 by Kaner, a journalist who lived in Port Washington.
The Foundation recently gave the house a $25,000 donation. It will be used for their Share-A-Night Program. The program assists families with financial difficulties by waiving room fees.
“The Walter Kaner Children’s Foundation has provided funding for many causes that help children in our community,” said Ronald McDonald House of Long Island President Robert S. Weitzner. “Their grant will certainly help our organization operate in a way that will best serve the families who stay with us. And for that we are very grateful.”
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is located at 267-07 76th Avenue in New Hyde Park. For more information, call 718-343-5683 or visit www.rmhlongisland.org.
