Flushing man drives drunk, defiles cruiser: DA

CORONA – A Flushing man was arraigned last week on charges of criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a vehicle, disorderly conduct and urinating in public after he allegedly took a car from a Corona body shop, a spokesman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Friday.

The victim went to the body shop at 126-24 Willets Point Blvd. at around 1 p.m. Aug. 16 to repair body damage, according to the criminal complaint.

An employee of the body shop, 23-year-old Hugo Gutierrez, of 155-18 Sanford Ave, allegedly took the keys to the victim's car and promised to have the work done by Aug. 19, the complaint said.

Gutierrez was spotted by a police officer Aug. 20 inside the victim's car at a gas station at 127-48 Northern Blvd. in Corona, the complaint said.

The defendant allegedly then got out of the car and urinated next to the officer's marked car before falling to the ground, the complaint said. He was immediately arrested.

Gutierrez was arraigned Aug. 20 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Charles LoPresto on criminal mischief; unauthorized use of a vehicle; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; littering of swill, brine, etc.; and disorderly conduct charges, the spokesman said.

He was released on his own recognizance, the spokesman said. His next court date was scheduled for Sept. 17.
