Alleged drunk driver leaves path of destruction

According to court documents, Victor M. Zapata has been charged with unlicensed driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs after he allegedly left a swath of destruction in his wake at 90th Avenue and 78th Street.
Zapata, while driving a 2003 Ford van on October 13, hit nine parked vehicles, according to documents, before crashing into a home on 90th Avenue.
When cops arrived, they noticed a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the defendant’s breath, and observed that the defendant had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.”
Police say they even recovered a “bottle containing an alcoholic beverage” and discovered that Zapata did not have a valid driver’s license.
Zapata admitted to driving the van and then “admitted that he had a couple of beers,” according to court papers.
