NYC Opera coming to Queens

As part of its “Looking Forward” series, the New York City Opera will perform at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 7.
The opera has been traveling while its performance space, the David H. Koch Theater, undergoes renovations as part of a $200 million capital campaign by the New York City Opera and New York City Ballet.
The series has already been to Staten Island and Brooklyn, with the performance in Queens and one in Manhattan still to come.
“It will be a terrific opportunity for audiences to rediscover the beauty and richness of the unique styles and harmonies of this important era in music history,” New York City Opera Music Director George Manahan said of the series.
During the upcoming Queens performance, the repertoire will include excerpts of Britten’s “Les Illuminations,” Debussy’s :Danse sacr/e et dance profane,” movements number one and two of Lukas Foss’ “Time Cycle,” movements one and two of Messiaen’s “Trois petites liturgies de la Pre/sence Divine,” Steve Reich’s “Clapping Music” and Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella Suite.”
Some of the artists who will be performing with the New York City Opera include tenor Brian Anderson, harpist June Han, soprano Jennifer Zetlan and pianist Aleck Karis.
The performance will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Tickets cost $20.
