An open letter to City Councilman Tony Avella:
My husband and I were longtime supporters of you, but recently you have taken positions that have really annoyed us.
We are talking about your pushing for naming a street for Sonny Carson, a noted anti−Semite and −white.
We also disagree with you on placing Nativity scenes in public schools. Nativity scenes belong in a parochial school or church, not in public schools. Some of us do not celebrate Christmas but the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah in December.
Therefore, we will not endorse your bid for mayor of New York City.
