Ozone Park Civic
plans to clean up graffiti

City Councilmember Eric Ulrich passed over the reigns of the Our Neighbor’s Civic Association of Ozone Park to new president John Miden at the April 7 meeting.
“I can’t be City Councilmember and President at the same time,” Ulrich said.
Miden has been involved in the Association for the past few years.
“It’s an honor to take over the Civic,” Miden said.
One of the bigger problems that both Ulrich and Miden believe needs to be addressed is the graffiti in the Ozone Park area.
“I have some new ideas that will hopefully clean this area up a bit,” Miden said. “I’m a very clean guy.”
Ulrich also announced at the meeting that his new office, on 101st Avenue between 93rd and 94th Streets, is well underway.
“My office is opened, so come in,” Ulrich said. “I am always here for you.”
He continued, “I’d like to have a phone line in my office that will allow you to call in any complaints you have, and within 72 hours we’ll do our best to take care of the situation.”
Like graffiti, he noted.
“I’m tired of driving down Cross Bay Boulevard and seeing the graffiti, I do not tolerate that,” Ulrich said.
Ulrich also expressed how important libraries, after-school programs and senior centers are to the Ozone Park neighborhood.
“We need to take care of our kids and our seniors,” Ulrich said.
According to the politician, senior centers are places that people go to just simply talk to someone, and after school programs and libraries are places where parents know their children are safe.
“We need to keep these programs and centers opened,” Ulrich said. “We need to work hard for every stitch of paint.”
