NST Welcomes New Vendor in Arcade

The newest vendor to add to the amenities at North Shore Towers is 5 Brothers TV & Appliances, which joined the community about a month and a half ago.

The business was started in 1981. It has one store in the Bronx and one in Brooklyn, as well as a distribution warehouse on Long Island.

5 Brothers, which does retail and wholesale, sells televisions and all major appliances. It is also a full-service dealer that installs, removes the old item, and offers tutorials.

Yaniv Hassoun, Vice President of 5 Brothers, said that resident and on-site realtor Linda Rappaport is a close friend who, for a long time, has been referring customers from both inside and outside of the Towers to him. He said that the opportunity to come to the Towers came up after another vendor left.

“They needed someone to fill the void of consumer electronics and appliances, so immediately she [Rappaport] thought of me,” he said. “Everything seemed to be a perfect fit. So far, everything has been working out very well.”

Hassoun joined the company, which was started by his father, three and a half years ago. Prior to doing so, he said both he and his brother spent time working for others and going through extensive training.

In just the first two or three weeks that 5 Brothers was at the Towers, Hassoun said they had made about 25 or 30 appointments and already completed 10 jobs. He also said that there had been “very good customer satisfaction.”

“They [the residents] just want somebody to be patient with them, they want someone to take the time with them, and that’s something we’re well-trained in doing,” said Hassoun, adding that he has received an “outstanding” welcome from the North Shore Towers community so far.

Hassoun said that one of the main goals at the Towers is to establish a service that he feels many people run away from if they are not that comfortable with technology.

Being that this is the first time 5 Brothers has ever had a remote showroom, Hassoun said he is not sure what to expect. However, he said that they want to learn from the experience and use this model to adapt it to similar buildings.

Hassoun said that, since there is no way to display everything that 5 Brothers TV & Appliances carries, people can call or e-mail him with specific model numbers. The customer will then be able to get the exact item in a quick manner, receive full service, and 5 Brothers will even beat the price.

“We’ll always beat the price,” he said. “Even if we’re losing money on it, we’ll beat the price. That’s our motto and that’s what we do.”

The 5 Brothers TV & Appliance showroom at North Shore Towers is located in the North Shore Towers Production office on the arcade level of Building Two. It will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
