Adults only flu shots

While some people are worrying about flu season, London Lennies Restaurant has decided to have a little fun with it by creating their “Flu Shot Menu.”
“We’re always trying to come up with some different and fun stuff at the bar,” owner Leslie Barnes said.
Barnes said that the restaurant was thinking about how people do different shots of alcohol and then about oysters and how, if they are “nice and fresh” they are very healthy. As they continued to build on the concept, Barnes said that, since everyone has been talking about flu shots, they thought “why not.”
London Lennies has two items on its Flu Shot Menu – the Flu Shot Oyster Shooter and Crab Cake Cure. The shooter is a shot of Jose Cuervo Especial tequila that is mixed with herbs, vegetables and lime juiced and topped with an oyster. The Crab Cake Cure has three types – blue claw crab, Dungeness crab and Jonah crab – and comes with three sauces.
Although London Lennies formerly offered oyster shooters with champagne, this is the first time it has had a Flu Shot Menu.
Barnes explained that there are many qualities in these items that can actually help during flu season. For instance, the oysters and crabs have the nutrient selenium, which can help strengthen the immune system. Other nutrients found in the oysters include protein, zinc, calcium and iron.
“We had a lot of fun with this,” Barnes said.
London Lennies began serving the Flu Shot Menu on October 12 and will continue to do so through February 4. It is available Monday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Along with doing this special, London Lennies is participating in Queens Restaurant Week and will be participating in Crab Fest from October 13 to November 8.
