Shopping options in Rego Park are expanding by the hour.
Just steps away from a freshly opened Century 21 at the Rego Park Mall, Kohl’s Department Stores opened their new location on Wednesday, March 3.
“We are excited to open the doors to the new Rego Park location,” said Victor Eckert, district manager for the new Kohl’s. “Kohl’s helps customers stretch their budget with incredible values on great brands, offering everything our customers need for their families and homes in one location.”
Besides providing residents with one-stop shopping, Kohl’s also brings 250 jobs to Rego Park, along with their belief in environmentally friendly structures and business practices. The Rego Park Kohl’s is the company’s first store built according to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications and the first tenant in the center to pursue LEED certification.
The company was recently ranked as the number one green retailer in Newsweek’s list of The Greenest Big Companies in America and was named one of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2009 Green Power Partners of the Year.
“Kohl’s believes in bringing value to more than just its customers,” said James Avellino, store manager of the Rego Park location.
Kohl’s also wants their customers to save some green. That is why they offer numerous customer friendly initiatives, including power hours, early bird and night owl specials. They also boast an industry-leading, hassle-free return policy, according to Avellino.
“The thing that Kohl’s offers that is different is a family-focused, value-oriented shopping experience,” said Avellino. “Our return policy is a quick, convenient, ‘no questions asked’ experience.”
Kohl’s customer-first mentality has garnered them attention by the National Retail Federation, which has listed Kohl’s at the top in customer service for the past five years.
On the job front, the new Rego Park Kohl’s is only the beginning of a larger plan to add jobs throughout the country. This spring, Kohl’s will add six new stores, which will help to create more than 1,500 new jobs.
Locally, Kohl’s is doing their part to better the surrounding community. Throughout the year, Kohl’s sells special Kohl’s Cares for Kids merchandise, including books and plush toys, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Schneider Children’s Hospital.
It is all a part of the Kohl’s promise to enrich the shopping experience, as well as the greater good of Rego Park.
“We deliver on our promise to expect great things through our merchandise offerings, our customer service and our commitment to the environment and the communities we serve,” said Victor Eckert.
