Going to bat for fans health

Going to Citi Field can also be an educational experience for fans now that the Health Information Team (HIT) has opened at the ballpark, courtesy of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.

This marks the first time that a Major League Baseball stadium has created a permanent location where people can obtain health information.

As a health and wellness center, HIT will provide information on a variety of topics, such as exercise, heart health, nutrition and women’s health.

“We want to educate and promote to our fans the benefits of engaging in a healthy lifestyle,” said Saul Katz, the president of the New York Mets and chair of North Shore-LIJ Health System’s board.

HIT is located in the right corner of the stadium’s field level. During each game, doctors and medical professionals will be on hand to provide information. The center will have multimedia displays, as well as private consultation areas.

Visitors will also get a chance to learn about The Katz Institute for Women’s Health, which is a part of the health system that is currently being constructed, along with the Katz’s Women’s Hospital.

“The Health Information Team brings superior talent and care of doctors and clinicians at North Shore-LIJ directly to fans at Citi Field and provides a glimpse into what’s to come at the Katz’s Women’s Hospital,” Katz said.

HIT will hold different special events throughout the season. For example, the focus will be on sports safety and exercises during games on April 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27 and 28. Visitors will be able to get free injury-risk assessments and learn warm-up techniques, as well as speak with licensed sports rehab professional.
