The controversy against the site of the Cordoba cultural center is politically motivated and misinformed. A prayer site has been in this building for more than a year. The developer is a native-born Brooklynite and is a Muslim by choice. His father is Egyptian and a non-practicing Muslim, his mother is Catholic and for many years he attended the 92nd Street Y, a Hebrew organization with cultural features upon which his development of Cordoba is based.
