RIDGEWOOD — More than 10 years after a mother was shot eight times in the head and left on the floor of a Ridgewood gymnasium, a city corrections officer has been charged with the murder, the Queens district attorney said.
Christopher Clavell, 46, of Staten Island, was arrested Monday and charged with the shooting of Barbara Perez, 32, his former girlfriend and the mother of his child, who was 2 years old at the time of the murder, said the DA.
Perez worked at The Power Factory, at 71-13 60th Lane, where she was assigned to opening the gym at 6 a.m. on a daily basis, according to the Queens district attorney.
At 7:15 a.m., a co-worker found her body on the floor. She was shot once in the chest in addition to the eight bullet holes in her head, the DA said.
