102nd Precinct wiping out graffitists

With help from a community member, the 102nd Precinct was able to arrest a graffitist estimated to have caused $100,000 worth of damage.
On April 20 – thanks to the anonymous tip – officers positively identified the individual responsible for the graffiti tag “DEZO.”
“DEZO,” a 20-year-old man who lives locally, “has plagued the 102nd Precinct with an enormous amount of marker and spray-painted tags,” according to a police source.
As a result of the precinct’s lengthy investigation, “DEZO” was arrested and charged with 11 counts of vandalism and is currently incarcerated for the damages he allegedly caused.
Additionally, on May 9, officers — again acting on a tip from a community member –arrested three others responsible for making graffiti tags on numerous vehicles and houses. The tags included “CAN,” “SAMPLE” and “SEF.”
After an investigation, these males, ages 14, 16 and 18, all were arrested a total of nine times.
“The most recent success of the 102nd Precinct all was made possible with the help of concerned neighbors,” said the source. “It is important that when graffiti is observed in progress, neighbors immediately report it with a detailed description and direction in which the perpetrators fled.”
