WEINER’S WOES

Add Congressmember Anthony D. Weiner to the list of Queens politicians who got caught telling lies and being lewd and lascivious. Dennis Gallagher’s attempted rape of a grandmother; Assemblymember Bryan McLaughlin who stole money from a little league while rigging union contracts; Assemblymember Anthony Seminerio who sold his political influence; Comptroller Alan Hevesi who misused state funds for his family; and the rat of rats, disgraced State Senator Hiram Monserrate, who assaulted his girlfriend Karla Giraldo.
We feel sorry for Weiner’s wife and family who are the real victims of his indiscretions.
Weiner wanted to succeed Mayor Michael Bloomberg. That career path has ended, if not his congressional career too. House Sepaker Nancy Pelosi has already set a federal probe in motion of Weiner’s actions with an eye toward ethics violations and possible dismissal.
Just like Tiger Woods, first is was just one girl involved in sexy emails and suddenly there were several. He admitted communicating with six women online before and after his marriage and sending them explicit photos too.
So it was with tears in eyes that a chastened but resolute Weiner held a press conference and stopped lying and admitted to sending a close-up of himself in his underwear to a woman on Twitter and then lying about it.
He apologized to his wife, his supporters, his staff, the women he sent the photos to and to the blogger who revealed the whole indiscretion.
Weiner then stoically refused to resign, adding that his marriage was not ending.
Remember, Woods’s wife stood by him for a while too.
