Sal joined First Central Savings Bank in March 2010 as Vice President and Senior Enterprise Risk Officer, where he is responsible for the overall risk management function of the Bank. Sal spent the majority of his career on Wall Street as a banking industry analyst. He joined Banco Santander in June 2008 as a Managing Director in their US Corporate Strategy Department where he worked on US mergers and acquisitions for the Bank. Prior to joining Santander, he spent 6 years at Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. At Bear, Sal’s research coverage focused on community and regional banks. Sal’s work was consistently recognized by his clients including three times in the Institutional Investor All-America Research Survey, the Wall Street Journal Best on the Street Survey, and Starmine best analysts poll.
Prior to joining Bear Stearns in 2002, Sal spent eight years with Advest, Inc. as a Director following small and mid-cap banks and thrifts. Before Advest, Sal was employed by Mabon Securities, in New York, as a junior analyst. He began his professional career in September 1987 with Merrill Lynch, where he spent five years in accounting before deciding to become an analyst.
In addition to his professional career, Sal serves on the Board of Directors and is Treasurer and head of the Finance and Audit Committees at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
Sal earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University and his M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University. He is also a graduate of Regis High School in Manhattan. Sal resides in Beechhurst with his wife Effie and their two children Christina and Michael.
