The Tuskegee Airmen were honored by Queens Borough President Helen Marshall during a fund-raiser in Long Island City for Corona’s The Learning Tree school on Jan. 28. As noted, the Tuskegee Airmen were an Alabama-based squadron of African-American fighter pilots who fought and achieved fame during World War II. Shown with Marshall (at center) at the fund-raiser were (from left to right) George Watson Sr., Dabney Montgomery, fighter pilot Roscoe Brown and Wilfred DeFour. The story of the Tuskegee Airmen is told in the recently-released motion picture Red Tails.
