Banks Turn Bandit Away

Crook Fails In Forest Hills, Sunnyside Heists

Police are searching for the note-carrying suspect who walked away empty-handed from a heist attempt at a Forest Hills bank last Thursday morning, Feb. 23, and is also wanted for two previous capers in Sunnyside and Rego Park, it was reported.

The note-carrying crook (pictured in top two photos) who allegedly made robbery bids in Sunnyside and Rego Park recently reportedly failed in his attempt to get cash from a Chase bank on Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills (bottom photo) last Thursday morning, Feb. 23.

According to law enforcement sources, the failed robbery occurred at around 9:15 a.m. at the Chase bank located at 104-17 Queens Blvd.

The suspect-described by police as a 30-year-old African-American man standing at 6′-tall, weighing between 160 and 180 lbs. with a thin build and a dark complexion who was seen wearing all black clothing- entered the branch and passed a note to a teller demanding cash.

After the teller refused to comply with his request, authorities stated, the would-be bandit walked out of the bank without any money and fled in an unknown direction.

Members of the 112th Precinct re- sponded to the scene. There were no injuries, and no weapons were displayed.

During the course of their investigation, police determined that the suspect in the caper was the same note-carrying crook who made robbery bids at Chase locations in Rego Park and Sunnyside last month.

Law enforcement sources said the perpetrator successfully received cash from the Chase bank located at 95-38 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park at around 10:15 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 3.

Then on Valentine’s Day, police reported, the bandit was rejected in his attempt to get cash from a Chase bank at 47-11 Queens Blvd. in Sunnyside at around 2:55 p.m. on the afternoon of Feb. 14.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the NYPD Major Case Squad, police said.
