A man was seriously injured after being struck by and pinned underneath a bus as it turned at a Maspeth intersection last Tuesday night, Mar. 20, authorities said. Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 9 p.m. at the corner of Grand Avenue and Hamilton Place. Members of Squad Co. 288, Engine Co. 291, Ladder Co. 140, Rescue 4, Battalion 46, the 104th Precinct, NYPD Emergency Services Unit 10 and EMS units responded to the scene. Fire Department sources said that special airbags were used to raise the bus and free the injured man. He was brought to Elmhurst Hospital Center with serious injuries but was expected to make a recovery, FDNY sources said.
